Cedar Point is a 1.47 km² amusement park located in Sandusky, Ohio, USA on a narrow peninsula that abuts Lake Erie. Opened in 1870, the park is the second oldest operating amusement park in the United States after Lake Compounce. Cedar Point is the largest park owned by the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (which is headquartered on the park grounds) and, along with Valleyfair, was one of the first parks owned and operated by the company. Cedar Point has a world record 72 rides on its grounds, which includes 15 roller coasters. Known as the “Rollercoaster Coast,” the park with 16 such slides ranks third in the world.

The park is usually open daily from early May until Labor Day and then nine more weekends until the end of October, when the park hosts HalloWeekends Halloween festivities. Hours vary throughout the season, but most often the park is open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (until 11:00 p.m. on Saturdays in July, and the first half of August, as well as the Fourth of July). The park also has a 1.6 kilometer long sandy beach, an outdoor water park (Soak City), an indoor water park, two marinas, six hotels (Hotel Breakers, Sandcastle Suites, Lighthouse Point, Camper Village, Breakers Express, and Castaway Bay), and another park inside the park (Challenge Park – tickets there are sold separately from the main park) that contains activities such as go-karting, miniature golf, and Ripcord and Skyscraper rides.

The park owns several achievements. Cedar Point is the only amusement park in the world with four roller coasters over 61 meters: the Magnum XL-200, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and Top Thrill Dragster. Cedar Point is also the only park in the world with roller coasters in all four height classifications. Cedar Point has been recognized as the “World’s Best Amusement Park” by Amusement Today for the past 15 years. Along with Kings Island, Cedar Point is the most visited amusement park in the United States with a seasonal audience of 3.14 million people (2011 data).

Knott’s Berry Farm is an original southern California theme park located in Buena Park, California, owned and operated by Cedar Fair. Featuring 40 rides including roller coasters, family rides, dark rides and water rides, the park also offers elaborate stage shows, interactive entertainment and family fun with Snoopy and the Peanuts gang. In 2015, it was the twelfth most visited theme park in North America with approximately 4 million visitors annually.

Knott’s Berry Farm is a world-renowned theme park founded as a family farm. Knott’s offers delicious culinary creations that can only be found at Knott’s Berry Farm. Knott’s Berry Farm began as a small berry farm that soon began to evolve into a family theme park thanks to its famous fried chicken dinners, boysenberries and Old West Ghost Town, a park filled with rides and attractions.

Experience modern thrill rides at one of America’s oldest and most beloved theme parks, offering exciting rides and a unique opportunity to explore California’s cultural heritage and pioneering past. The theme park originated in the 1920s as a roadside berry stand run by Walter Nott on California’s Highway 39. By the 1940s, a restaurant, several stores, and other attractions were built on the site to entertain an increasing number of visitors, including an exact replica of a ghost town.

Over the next two decades, the site continued to transform into a modern amusement park, and in 1968, an entrance fee was added. In 1997, the park was sold to Cedar Fair for $300 million, just two years after the Knott’s food business was acquired by ConAgra. Inc. in 1995. Since being acquired by Cedar Fair, the park has seen an aggressive shift toward amusement rides, resulting in several large roller coasters.

Knott’s Berry Farm is now brimming with rides and attractions for all ages, including top-notch roller coasters, stage shows, interactive experiences, delicious food and family-friendly entertainment featuring Snoopy and the Peanuts gang. The once small family farm has evolved into today’s family vacation destination; It is home to Knott’s Berry Farm Theme Park, Knott’s Soak City Water Park and Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel.

Neighborhoods and Attractions

What started as a roadside berry stand and Chicken Dinner restaurant in the 1920s has evolved into one of Southern California’s most popular theme park destinations, attracting more than five million visitors each year. It’s always a season of fun at Knott’s, with dozens of thrilling rides, shows and attractions in exciting themed areas.

Knott’s Berry Farm offers a unique blend of world-class thrill rides with traditional family rides and shows. A day at Knott’s Berry Farm includes a ride on giant foot coasters, as well as the opportunity to see Old West adventures and enjoy a hug from the world’s cutest hound, Snoopy.

Knott’s features six uniquely themed areas, each representing the Southern California atmosphere. Enjoy wild rides, live entertainment and attractions including a dynamic Old West ghost town, the six-acre Snoopy Kids Camp and thrill rides such as Jaguar, Xcelerator, GhostRider, Montezuma’s Revenge, Hammerhead and Boomerang.

Knott’s Suspension Slides that send daredevil riders through inverted outer loops, tight turns and zero-acceleration rolls. Feel the high-octane rush of the Xcelerator, a ride that gives new meaning to “joy ride,” while the GhostRider delivers the excitement of a classic wooden coaster slide. Then there’s the gravity-defying onslaught of the 30-story Supreme Scream, a 720-degree turn in Rip Tide …

Ghost Town is a trip back in time with gun-toting bandits in a legendary Wild West stunt show. Explore the legacy of Native American civilization on Indian Trails. You’ll be transported back in time with Native American storytellers and a high-tech wizard at Mystery Lodge, watch costumed artisans engage in innovative crafts in living history booths, and cheer on sighing bronco riders at the Fool’s Gold Stunt Show.

New York’s famous Coney Island Luna Park is located on the oceanfront near the beach, which attracts tons of locals and tourists during the summer. Lunapark is partly historical, as the amusement park first opened here in 1903 and operated for over 40 years.

The Cyclone ride, once the largest roller coaster in America, is a reminder of the past. Today the scale of the attraction does not surprise anyone: young people disparagingly open about the Cyclone as a pleasure train “for old men”. But it is still worthwhile to ride the unique roller coaster with ancient wooden cabins.

In 2010 Luna Park was reconstructed. Now fans of extreme and thrill can try their strength on modern rides in Scream Zone. The park also has a lot of merry-go-rounds and swings for the little ones, family rides, and fun games for the whole family to play. You can shoot skeet in the shooting gallery or hit three-pointers on the basketball court. And of course, there are many snack bars and tents with souvenirs and sweets on the territory of the park. You can spend the whole day in the Coney Island Luna Park with breaks for the beach.

Today, Dreamland and Luna Park have been renovated and opened on the site of the former Astroland. Only two rides, the Cyclone and the Wheel of Wonders, remind us of the distant past of this place. Once the largest roller coasters in America, they no longer surprise anyone with their scale, but they impress with their special mood and spirit of antiquity. Young people call them a “pleasure train” for the adult generation.

Back in the day, the amusement park at Coney Island was considered one of the most affordable places for citizens to relax. Much has changed since then. Tickets for entertainment are cheaper on weekdays than on weekends. There are two ways to try out all the rides: buy separate tickets for $1 each, or purchase a special bracelet that allows you to ride without restrictions for 4 hours.

Since the park was founded, it has been visited by more than 500 million tourists and guests, including royalty, heads and presidents of various states. The idea of opening a recreation area came to Walt Disney when he and his daughters were walking in Griffith Park, which is located in the Santa Monica Mountains. The titanic work of all those who worked on its creation, today, welcomes visitors with favorite stories and characters from cartoons. Interestingly, the bulk of visitors are adults.

To date, the territory of the park has significantly increased and its area is about 200 hectares. The complex consists of:

  • Disney Park, which was created the very first;
  • Disney’s California Adventure Park – a new part of the park that tells the story of the Golden State;
  • Downtown Disney – an entire entertainment city with restaurants, arcades, theaters and bars;
  • Disneyland Resort Hotel – a true Disneyland hotel and one of the most famous hotels in Los Angeles.

In the summer of 2012, a five-year expansion of the park was completed. There appeared: Buena Vista Street, Cars Land, as well as new attractions. One of the most complex rides Cars Land takes visitors into the fascinating world of the popular cartoon “Cars”. Here everyone can walk through the city of Radiator Springs and visit three attractions created for the whole family.

Part of Buena Vista Street Park is a typical shopping street of the city of Los Angeles in the 20’s. It was during this time that Walt Disney came to these places to realize his dream. At the very end of the street is the Carthay Circle Theatre, the building and interior of which is an exact copy of the Los Angeles theater, where in 37th year “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” premiered.

Unforgettable entertainment, a huge number of attractions attract tourists and guests from all over the world to the park. Today, there are 8 thematic zones, which consist of 60 attractions, stores, railway station, cafes, fire station, hotels, as well as at every step you are waiting for adventure surprises and of course, the characters of your favorite cartoons.

One of the most popular parts of the park is Frontierland. A magnificently recreated corner of the Wild West, in the era when it was developed by settlers. Indians, cowboys, saloons, and the sounds of country music take visitors back to the very middle of the 19th century. Here you can attend cowboy shows, ride a rumbling mountain railroad, or sail on a steamboat with Mark Twain’s characters.

Disneyland is a whole world to which you need to devote more than one day. Here life is boiling both day and night, a lot of restaurants that offer visitors a diverse menu from the usual dishes of classic New Orleans to high Mediterranean cuisine.

Universal Orlando Resort is a park that was founded by Steven Spielberg so that every visitor could become a hero of his favorite blockbuster. Harry Potter, The Simpsons and Marvel villains put on unforgettable shows for fans every day.

Universal Orlando Resort is Disneyland’s main competitor. There are similar parks by the same company in Los Angeles, Japan and Singapore. But for 5 years TripAdvisor recognized it is Islands of Adventure as the best in the world.

A huge territory of the park is occupied by rides and pavilions, where dancing dinosaurs, water adventures and dizzying stunts make visitors squeal with delight.

Universal Orlando Resort areas

The Florida theme park is divided into several areas:

  • Universal Studios Florida;
  • Universal’s Islands of Adventure;
  • Volcano Bay Waterpark;
  • Universal CityWalk (cafes, restaurants and stores);
  • resort area, where the best hotels in the city are located.

The first three are themed attractions and entertainment, the special effects of which are breathtaking and can shock even men. Volcano Bay is a water park with incredible slides, where the bravest descend from the top of the volcano. Shows take place in the park all the time, but if you want to attend a specific one, keep an eye on the schedule. To everyone has the opportunity to check the place in the queue, special gadgets are issued here.

Universal Studio Florida

In this part, the park resembles the streets of cities from favorite movies, series and TV-shows, and the rides on them are dedicated to the company’s most famous blockbusters. You can walk through New York and San Francisco to Hollywood, where you’ll accidentally meet Marilyn or Audrey. And walking in London, you will definitely get to Slanting Lane.

At every turn there are attractions associated with popular thrillers, adventures and disasters. The incredible roller coaster Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, 51 meters high and 1200 meters long, rises above the central street. On them, at a speed of 105 kilometers per hour, daredevils fly a loop and several spirals. The trick of the ride is the music you choose before the ride. This song will drown out the screams of your neighbors and will be remembered forever.

Many visitors, including those who have already been to the park, want to get on the closed roller coaster Revenge of the Mummy. On them, escaping in the semi-darkness from an angry mummy at speeds of up to 72 kilometers per hour, even men experience both excitement and terror.

The most visited shows are Terminator 2 and Fear Factor Live, in which park visitors become participants. The Blues Brothers Show plays on New York Street. And the outdoor Universal Music Plaza Stage, which seats up to 8,000 people, hosts extravaganza concerts and festivals.

The most popular location in this zone is Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. The other half of the magical world is located in another zone of the park. The real Hogwarts Express takes Potteromans there every day. You must have an entrance ticket to both parts of the park.

Islands of Adventure

You can enter the Islands of Adventure area through a separate entrance or take the magical train to Hogsmeade. In the world of Harry Potter, you’ll visit Hogwarts Castle and fly on a hippogriff. If you don’t already have a wand, check out the Ollivanders store. And order a creamy beer at the local cafe.

The most popular rides in this part are at Marvel Super Hero Island. For example, the speed on the Hulk slide reaches 108 km/h, but comfortable seats and reliable fastenings give the sensation of flight rather than fear. If you are still afraid to do loops in reality, join Spider-Man in 3D. But even here you’ll feel the heat when they start firing flamethrowers.

On Toon Lagoon Island, the water ride with a sharp descent Ripsaw Falls gathers enthusiastic comments – it’s impossible to get away dry. For those who don’t like water but want a thrill, we recommend the 3D ride on King Kong Island on Skull Island. Stunning special effects guarantee an adrenaline rush.

In one part of Jurassic Park is the most popular of the old attractions, the Jurassic Park River. Floating in a boat, here you expect a dinosaur attack every second. Spectacular shows in this area take place on the Lost Continent and Suze Island.

Carefree island life reigns at the foot of the volcano. During the day, a waterfall falls from its peaks, which turns into lava flows by nightfall. Spend all day by the water, alternating between relaxation and unreal slides down different slides. Rent a gazebo, cottage or family vacation suite for a party. Several wave pools, 2 rivers and playgrounds are available. The park’s most extreme slide starts at the top of the volcano. Take a risk and have an unforgettable experience.

What to do with kids

Every area of Universal Park Orlando has age-restricted playgrounds and attractions. On the streets children can meet their favorite characters – Transformers, Scooby Doo, Minions, Shrek. In Character party zone and in dreamworks destination little guests dance and have fun with cartoon idols.

Woody Woodpecker’s Kidzone has several interactive areas for kids. The main attraction in the Fivel play area is the huge spider web. Exciting 4D rides with the main characters through their painted worlds are especially popular.
