What is Museum on the Move?

Museum on the Move brings all the education and excitement right to your doorstep!  Choose from assembly programs, live animal shows, theater-based classes and community outreach.  If you're not sure which of these will work for you, call the reservations department and they'll help you find the perfect program for your needs.

Dino Adventures

T-Rex the Turtle escapes his home at the Garden State Discovery Museum to lead children on a journey uncovering the world of Dinosaurs!  This modern day reptile longs to stomp and roar with his prehistoric ancestors and tells an interactive story of these awesome creatures of long ago. T-Rex digs up the facts and delivers the dirt on dinosaurs only to discover Haddy the Hadrosaurus, South Jersey’s very own Dino-star. Haddy is a giant, to-scale puppet that is sure to amaze. Together they’ll take your children on an incredible Jurassic adventure…no bones about it!

Discovering Dinosaurs
Grades : K - 4

Join Dr. Al O. Saurus as you become a paleontologist for day and dig into the world of these mysterious creatures! Learn about what dinosaurs ate, how they defended themselves, and who really ruled the earth! We’ll also discovery why they became extinct…

qDown the Shore
Grades : Pre-K - 2

Catch a wave and explore the Jersey Shore with Sandy Trunks! We’ll comb the beach and swim the ocean as we discover the many creatures you might run into “on the way to Cape May!”

Bubble Magic : The Science of Suds
Grades : Pre-K - 4

Why are bubbles round? Why can we see colors in them? Find out in this fun-filled workshop where we float through the world of science. You’ll even discover what it’s like inside a giant bubble!

qSensations
Grades : Pre-K - 2

Explore just how sensational you are with our unique blend of hands-on activities and mini science experiments. Students will learn about their world through the five senses and see how important they are in everyday life.

qMusic Mania
Grades : K - 3

Hear, hear, friends, lend us your ears! In this science workshop, you’ll hear how different materials effect sound and even create your own instrument. Learning and fun in total harmony!

Kitchen Chemistry
Grades : 1 - 4

Join our resident mad scientist as you perform fun (and safe!) science experiments with everyday kitchen supplies. We will be opening up our cabinets to concoct some creative delights.

Planet Pirates
Grades : K - 4

Ahoy there, maties! Calling all land lovers to learn their three Rrr’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Not only do the Planet Pirates protect and preserve planet Earth, they create and keep their own “green” treasure.

Stuffee : Your Amazing Body
Grades : K - 4
Discover the stuff you’re really made of with this fun filled anatomy lesson! Meet Stuffee, our seven-foot, blue haired friend from Gift of Life who turns his insides outside  just for you. Learn all about nutrition and how to stay healthy with this gut-sy guy!

Destination: Space
Grades : 2 - 6
Become a Space Sleuth in an “out of this world” mystery that has the Shadow, The Sun Stealer on the run. Just why is our Solar System’s biggest star so valuable? Let’s track the clues and find out.

T-Rex the Turtle q
Grades : Pre-K

Meet T-Rex the Turtle…who thinks she’s a dinosaur! Confused? So is she! Join her on her wild and wacky adventure as she sorts it all out by learning the difference between the reptiles of today and the dinosaurs of long ago. A fun and interactive play, you’ll even get the chance to meet our red-eared slider turtles.

Celia the Colorful Cow
Grades : K - 3

Tired of black and white? Become a part of Celia’s magical color experiment! Learn the colors of the rainbow as you take a musical journey around her land of color and light.

Aviary Mary
Grades : K - 3

Our crazy new character, Aviary Mary, has lost her song! Help her find her flock in this new, interactive workshop that teaches students how to identify birds by sight as well as their unique calls.

Curly the Caterpillar
Grades : K - 2

Curly has searched high and low and cannot find her family! But if you can dance and crawl around, or make funny noises, then you are ready to help her through her magical story of metamorphosis.


Live Animal Shows

qCreepy Crawlers
Grades : K - 4

Have a chance to see some of the creepiest crawlers you’ve ever laid (eight) eyes on and learn what makes them tick! We’ll explore three types of bugs and get friendly with some of the Museum’s resident bugs.

Rockin' Reptiles

Grades:  K - 4

Want to be face to face with a real live dragon? Now's your chance! Learn what makes reptiles so distinct and meet our very own cold-blooded pals.


Community Outreach
The Center for Learning is the perfect answer to turning your school or community event into a unique celebration that families will not forget!  Choose from activities such as face painting, our giant bubble tower, a science craft and much more!
