Reopening of The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper Exhibit
Grand Reopening of Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper Exhibit
Cherry Hill, N.J. – The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper sponsored a renovation that updated and integrated new, child-friendly healthcare concepts into the exhibit at the Garden State Discovery Museum. The renovation will be revealed at a ribbon cutting ceremony taking place at the museum on Friday, June 13, 2014.
“We are thrilled to be part of this exhibit at the Garden State Discovery Museum,” said Michael Goodman, MD, MMM, FAAP, Chairman and Chief, Department of Pediatrics, Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper. “It is a dynamic, engaging space for even our smallest children to explore and learn about living healthy – a goal supported by all of us at Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper.”
The Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper first sponsored an exhibit several years ago featuring activities that allowed children to dress up as health care workers and learn concepts of caring for patients. It focused on easing the anxiety that children might have when seeking medical care.
The newly remodeled Cooper exhibit will focus on what it’s like to help people when they are more acutely ill and need to go to the hospital. Cooper University Health Care treats the most severely ill and injured patients in the region, including newborns who may require care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and pediatric patients who require surgery or a stay in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Cooper also has a designated pediatric emergency department for those who may become sick or injured and need immediate care. The new exhibit will reflect pieces of all these areas and allow children to use their imagination while learning about hospitals and health care settings.
Some of the highlights include an ambulance, x-ray body puzzle, stitching station, and we are keeping the crowd favorite newborn nursery. Children will have lots of opportunity combining hands on entertainment and education.
